If you are purchasing a second home you would already be subject to a higher rate of stamp duty land tax however following yesterdays budget the stamp duty land tax that is payable has now increased with immediate effect from 3% to 5%.
The first time buyers stamp duty relief threshold has now decreased with immediate effect from the purchase of properties up to £425,000.00 to the purchase of properties up to £300.00.00.
The maximum purchase price for which first time buyers could claim stamp duty tax relief was £625.000.00 and with immediate effect it has now returned to the previous threshold of £500.000.00.
